Spotlight on Schools

Every successful writer remembers that one teacher that made an impact. You remember the person who believed in you, showing you the path to becoming a better writer, the path to making your dream possible. So, when Mr. James Scott Brodie, 7th Grade ELA Instructor at James Lick Middle School, proudly shared some of his students’ work with me, I couldn’t resist. I had to re-share the work of these young writers learning much more than how to write with their reading responses to Us, in Progress: Short Stories About Young Latinos. Critical thinking is key in becoming not only a good writer, but a contributing member of society. Read excerpts of the student work of Mia and Classic and join me in congratulating the teacher and his young writers!

Teachers, feel free to reach out to me if you’d like your student’s work to be considered for the spotlight.
