Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

April/May 2012

Dear friends,

April 30 is Día de los niños/Día de los libros. Founded by Pat Mora in 1997,
the goals of this observance from its inception have included a daily commitment to:

"honor children and childhood,
promote literacy, the importance of linking all children to books, languages and cultures,
honor home languages and cultures, and thus promoting bilingual and multilingual literacy in this multicultural nation, and global understanding through reading,
involve parents as valued members of the literacy team,
promote library collection development that reflects our plurality."

I am honored to be a Día ambassador and have truly been promoting its goals for decades, since they are at the core of my beliefs. Learn more about Día's activities and what you can contribute with by clicking on the banner above. Enrich children with the books they need and deserve.

April is also Autism Awareness Month. Make a teacher's life a little easier, empower a parent to be part of the education of his child, give them Jay and Ben.

"It's a fine tool and an engaging book/game sure to be enjoyed by children with and without learning differences." – WETA Reading Rockets

"Oversized, colorful and interactive. . . 'Jay and Ben' is meant not only for autistic children
but also for children with other developmental disorders like A.D.D. and A.D.H.D."
–Pamela Paul, The New York Times

This title is supported by a web site jayandbenbooks.com where you will find terrific instructional videos explaining some of the uses of JAY AND BEN and many free downloads that will enhance and extend the activities the book generates.

Art Sale!

In the many years that I have been illustrating children's books, I have created hundreds of pieces. Although some have found their way into museums, galleries, and private collections, I still have watercolors, oil paintings, and linoleum prints, in search of an art lover.

If you like my artwork, and are interested in purchasing a piece, use any of my books as a catalog to choose from. Then contact me and I will be happy to discuss the availability of the piece in question.
